Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has recounted his ordeal at the hands of alleged ODM goons during the recently concluded Kibra polls.
Khalwale, who also served as Ikolomani MP for a decade, was the chief campaigner of former footballer McDonald Mariga who finished second in the race.
In some of the viral photos which did rounds on social media, Khalwale was captured throwing stones at an unknown man.
The famous 'Bullfighter', who attended a thanksgiving ceremony on Friday hosted by Dr William Ruto at Bomas, would later take on Twitter to condemn violence.
According to him, he managed to survive the ordeal by cheating death, a claim which cannot be substantiated though.
"A nostalgic moment to reflect on. Attended @MarigaOfficial thanksgiving and said thank u (sic) Lord for making it possible for me to cheat death at the hands of @TheODMparty goons," he claimed.
Despite links to the violence, ODM party repeatedly dismissed the reports, accusing DP William Ruto of using uncouth means to rally for Mariga.
“In the days leading to, and particularly on voting day in Kibra, Ruto’s errand boys, who sadly included serving and former Members of Parliament, were caught in the primitive and backward politics of dishing out money to voters," the party had said.
Dr Ruto on Friday vowed to take on ODM again in 2022, arguing that the Jubilee party learnt a lot of lessons from Kibra poll which saw Imran Okoth cruising to victory.
