The DP has been grappling with allegations of sponsoring MPs under the Tangatanga faction to endorse his bid in the region and weaken President Uhuru Kenyatta's grip.

However, speaking on Wednesday, the MP who is a member of the group rubbished claims that Ruto has bought over the group, saying that money has nothing to do with Ruto's support in Central Kenya.

He said that on the contrary, Ruto had not been giving any money, claiming that Ruto's backing emanates from the fact that he is accessible and friendly to all leaders.

"The DP does not dish out money. He has many MPs because he is accessible and knows everybody by their names. Uhuru too doesn't give, can the president give people money so that they end up fighting each other? (Hakuna pesa deputy president anapeana. He has many MPs because he is accessible na anajua kila mtu na jina yake. Hata rais hapeani, can the president give money watu wakapigane?)" he posed.

The lawmaker was speaking on Radio Citizen on Wednesday morning, in reference to the clashes that have been evident between the Tangatanga and Kieleweke factions lately.

He argued that the fights have been emanating from the Kieleweke side, which he claimed is being bankrolled by businessmen and wealthy individuals.

"This money is coming from businessmen and people living in mansions to ignite fights (Hii ni pesa wanabiashara na watu wako kwa nyumba kubwa wanatoa ndio watu wapigane)," he added.

The latest clash was witnessed on Sunday last week, pitting Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and his nominated counterpart Maina Kamanda at the Gitui Catholic Church in Kiharu.
