AG  Kihara Kariuki is now on the spot after he failed to defend Silibwet Primary school after a petitioner sued it over a land tussle.

The petitioner, John Macharia Mwangi, told the court that his piece of land, where the school is located, was acquired by the government illegally 53 years ago.

Mwangi went to court seeking justice for what he believed belonged to him but the AG did not represent the institution at the end of the day. The failure of the AG to appear in court on behalf of the school saw the government slapped with the fine.

The Environment and Lands Court in Nyahururu on Monday awarded the complainant the said amount as compensation for the land as well as the losses the family suffered during the period the land was in the hands of the government.

Justice Mary Oundo said that AG failed to show his professionalism in the matter after staging no show on several accounts despite having been summoned.

“The office did not demonstrate sufficient cause why they never appeared in court on the several occasions the matter came up for mention or hearing,” the judge said, as quoted by Daily Nation.
