Thirdway Alliance party has forwarded the Punguza Mzigo Bill to the 47 counties as it seeks to rally counties into supporting the amendment of the constitution.
Party leader Dr Ekuru Aukot has since appealed to the Members of the County Assemblies (MCAs) to adopt the Bill.
The move comes after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Thursday verified 1 million signatures needed for the amendment of the constitution to take place.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday in Nairobi, Aukot appealed to the assemblies to back his proposal which seeks to reduce the wage bill by cutting down the number MPs, counties and give more powers to the Senate.
He argued that the move is meant to promote devolution in the near future if it is adopted.
He also reminded all Kenyans from different walks of life to find time so that they can read and understand the Bill to enable them to make informed decisions.
“I am urging all our leaders and Kenyans at large to take this initiative positively, support it and remove any kind of politics from it. I am certain that if no politics will be included in this bill, then all the 47 counties will back it up,” Aukot said.
The politician has remained optimistic that the Bill will sail through. He has been rooting for the reduction of the number of MPs and extension of the Presidential term to seven years.
He, however, wants a president to serve only for one term.
