A powerful politician formerly attached to the Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly was on Friday afternoon reported missing after unknown people stormed his shop in Eldoret town in a Land Cruiser, whisking him away.
Reports indicate the former MCA Kapyego Ward was whisked away by people who claimed to be police officers at around 12 PM in his shop at Rock Center, 4 kilometres from Eldoret town.
His disappearance has sparked concern, with his close allies including the Marakwet East member of Parliament Kangogo Bowen claiming that he was nowhere within Eldoret police stations.
In a Facebook post, MP Bowen called on Eldoret locals to mobilize and help trace his whereabouts.
"Dear all, am told former Kapyego MCA Benson Kiptire was taken away by unknown people in Land Cruiser Prado KBW with four men onboard who claim to be policemen in his shop at Eldoret Rock Center around 12 noon today (Friday).
"Am told he is not in any police stations in Eldoret," the vocal legislator wrote in his social media platform.
What is even more confusing is the fact that the former MCA was whisked away without being told of the reason behind his arrest.
