During the electioneering period, putting on a Jubilee Party attire in Kisumu was close to impossible.
T-shirts and reflectors with prints of the Jubilee Party campaign messages disappeared from the Luo Nyanza region.
This is because the region was an opposition stronghold, and the residents paid allegiance to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, to an extent that they could attack anyone from the region believed to be supporting the ruling party.
So, what is the fate of the Jubilee party merchandise now that there is no more election?
On Thursday, a football team in Kisumu excited locals after converting Jubilee Party reflectors into training kits.
The incident surprised locals, with most of them pausing their activities to take a look at the unique team.
Speaking to a Hivisasa writer, one of the players said that most of his teammates possessed the IEBC reflectors which they used in training, adding that it was a good idea to bring in the unused Jubilee reflectors too.
“We don’t have training kits. IEBC and Jubilee kits are available. I don’t see people put them on. If anyone is keeping these kits somewhere, please donate. No one will come for us here,” said Wilfred.
When asked where he obtained the Jubilee reflectors, he said he was one of the party's campaigners in last year's election.
“I was tasked with the work of distributing them, but you know it was impossible. Most of them were fetched to the western region. These are what remained,” he added.
