Legendary former Harambee Stars coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee has weighed in on the victory of the Kenyan football team against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania.
Speaking on KTN on Friday, Mulee attributed the win over Tanzania to a boost in confidence in the Kenyan squad.
According to him, the confidence of the team had grown since their loss to the Desert Foxes of Algeria.
The former coach contended that the Kenyan players would be even more confident and in a different mind-frame, when they take on Senegal.
"Well, I think a good team sometimes has a slow start. The game against Algeria, of course the first 45 minutes to my assessment they had, stage fright is normal. After 15 years, long long time, going back to the same stage. I remember in 2004 when we also qualified, it was after 12 years, " Mulee said.
Mulee's view about the Stars players being tense during the Algeria fixture has been shared by scores of people.
"So the first game, the same thing that happened to the current squad, that is what happened to the squad the other day, but in the second half against Algeria, you could see they brought themselves back and they carried that to yesterday's game against Taifa Stars. And I think, from that result, they are oozing with a lot of confidence, and I believe come Monday, they will be able to face Senegal in a different mind-frame to the one they did in the first game against Algeria, " he added.
Kenya will face Senegal on Monday in their final group stage game, hoping to make it to the knock-out stages.
