A court has directed police to remand the suspects in the Wajir bus attack for 30 more days pending a probe into the incident.
The two suspects, Musa Hussein Ramadhan and Sadiq Abdullahi Isack, were arrested after the bus left 11 persons dead.
The named suspects were the driver and conductor respectively. The court ruled that the prosecution needed more time to establish the link between the duo and suspect terror militia from the Al Shabaab.
The accident left several dead including eight officers from the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU). Others include a doctor and teacher. The Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) has confirmed that there are several persons being pursued over the attack.
The detectives are expected to tour different counties including Nairobi, Mandera, and Garissa.
While appearing before the Wajir court, the suspects denied their links to the militia. The prosecution opposed the release of the suspects citing that they are likely to interfere with evidence from the witnesses.
Wajir County Commander Stephen Ng’etich has asked the local travelers from the region to be cautious whenever they are plying different routes in the region.
"From Mandera, they are advised to use the Danaba-Bute and Moyale routes since buses from Mandera are not escorted to Wajir," Mr. Ng'etich said.
The government has beefed up security in the region after the attack.
