Rotich said that all staff in the health department are expected to report and leave their respective workstations as stipulated in their appointment letters.

“I was shocked when I visited one health facility yesterday and I was told that they have a shortage of staff yet three of them were absent without any clear reason,” said the CeC after opening a one day workshop on evaluation of health workforce, Thursday.

“I won’t allow this to happen again. If you are tired of working for us just tender your resignation instead of disturbing us since we have more competent health officers who can take over,” she added.

The Health Executive said that routine inspection will be intensified in all health facilities and called upon the officers in charge to ensure that their staff is in the right place at the right time.

Rotich further revealed that her department is in constant consultation with the County Public Service Board with a view of adding more staff to serve the ever-growing population.

She, however, challenged public health officers to up their game by ensuring that they offer quality and not quantity health services to patients.
