At a time when other politicians are seemingly assembling their political machinery in readiness for the 2022 political contest, former Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has opted to leave her opponents guessing on her next political move.
Ms. Odinga, ODM leader Raila Odinga's sister joined politics in 2013 and run alongside Jack Ranguma in the gubernatorial race. She, however, never contested any political seat in 2017 having fallen out with her former boss. Despite bouncing back with a top job as Kisumu County Special Programmes Director, her political game plan remains a top guarded secret that may shake up Kisumu politics.
With Senator Fred Outa having fallen out with his erstwhile political buddy, Governor Anyang' Nyong'o, and Ranguma not ready to hang his political boots just yet, Kisumu could be headed for a major political battle come the next general election.
As to whether Ms. Odinga's political tactic of leaving opponents guessing on her next move, will make her reinvent her political career remains to be seen. However, what is constant is that a battle for political supremacy is looming in Kisumu. And whoever plays his cards well will carry the day. As for Ruth Odinga, don't write her off just yet.
