With the future of Jubilee Party hanging in the balance after a week of turbulence, Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale, a key ally of the DP, has now denied that President Uhuru Kenyatta has 'political debts' to pay.
According to the 2013 unwritten Memorandum of Understanding between Uhuru and Ruto, the former was to rule for two terms then back his deputy after the expiry of his tenure.
However, that MoU has rocked the Jubilee ship over the last one week with politicians allied to Uhuru now saying that they will block the DP's 2022 bid.
While responding to the said MoU, Garissa Township MP who is one of Ruto's trusted allies said that there is no such arrangement and that that the President has no political debts to pay.
"The President and the DP were paired candidates in 2013 and 2017 elections. To the best of my knowledge, there is no written Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between them as regards 20212 general elections. Furthermore, there are no political debts owed to anyone. But the Jubilee rank and file in all our strongholds are happy with the development record of the President and his deputy," said Duale as quoted by Sunday Nation.
