The Moiben Teachers College is set to be transformed into a Kenya Technical Training College campus.
Deputy President William Ruto has said that the move will enhance the training of more Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instructors.
The DP made the remarks on Friday during the ninth graduation ceremony at the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute in Uasin Gishu where 1, 265 students graduated,
“Moiben Teachers College which was initially built as a teachers college will now become a Kenya Technical Training College campus,” said the deputy president.
“The transfer will happen next week. I have instructed the ministry concerned to undertake the exercise so that we can not only train more trainers for our TVET sectors but equip competence curriculum training skills,” added Ruto.
Ruto further noted that the move will actualise competence training and boost the transfer of skills and knowledge.
The DP called on parents to enrol their children in TVET institutions, noting that they will be equipped with skills and knowledge to become job creators and not seekers.
He said TVET institutions are the solution to unemployment among the youths.
Ruto further said to prevent competition between courses offered by universities and TVET institutions, the government will be assessing the unhealthy competition so that every sector can be equipped with infrastructure to enhance quality training.
