An Administration Police (AP) officer was on Wednesday morning found dead along the Londiani-Muhuroni road near Jambo Kenya trading centre.
The officer identified as Justus Too was attached to the Kotulo Police Station in Wajir County.
He, however, was off duty and was spending his leave in Kaplaba village in Kipkelion West Constituency, Kericho County.
The incident comes almost a year after the brutal murder of his pregnant wife.
According to Kericho County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Stephen Magwe, the first officer to arrive at the crime scene thought the late Too had been involved in an accident.
However, upon examining the body, the officers discovered that the deceased had been stabbed to death.
"The Kipkelion Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Kipkelion Officer Commanding Station determined that it was not a road accident but a murder case. The deceased's body had multiple stab wounds on the neck and had been assaulted by use of a blunt object," he said.
Too's body also had bruises on the thighs, with DCI Magwe noting that this is an indication he had been killed elsewhere and the body dragged to the scene.
"This means that the deceased had been killed elsewhere and dragged to the road to make it look like it was a road accident," he said.
