Missing 5-year-old girl has been found brutally murdered in Sokoni village, Subukia, Nakuru County.
The body of the deceased minor was found wrapped in a sack and dumped in the area.
According to the mother, Anne Mwende, it was difficult to recognize her daughter since her face had been deformed beyond recognition.
Mwende, who works at a local bar in Bahati, recounted that on Saturday, January 5, 2019 she paid her daughter, who stays with her grandmother, a visit and bought her a pair of shoes and took her to saloon before returning to Bahati where she worked.
On Sunday, the mother was informed that her daughter, Shantel Njeri, was missing compelling her to return to Subukia on a search mission.
She reported the matter to Subukia police station on Monday morning.
Few hours later, Mwende said she received a call from a neighbor who informed her that the body of a young girl had been discovered by police and was being transported to the mortuary.
She said upon arriving at the scene, her fears were confirmed and broke into tears.
“I asked the police to let me view the body. When her face was uncovered, I could not even recognise her. The face was completely deformed. What made me recognise her was a bracelet she had on the hand with my name that I had given her,” recounted Mwende.
Confirming the incident, Subukia OCPD Jacinta Mwarania said investigations have commenced to establish the cause of the gruesome murder.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Nyahururu Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
