Musyoka drew comparison between Mohammed and veteran British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) journalist Stephen Sackur known for his hard-hitting, no-holds-barred 'Hardtalk' show.

"What Stephen Sackur has been to BBC's 'Hardtalk' is what Hussein has been to Citizen Television," Kalonzo said. (4:24-4:33)

On his part, Odinga hailed Hussein as a journalist who knew his stuff well.

He said the renowned journalist was keen on doing painstaking research before embarking on interviews.

He also made note of the fact that Hussein had a habit of pushing his interviewees to the point of annoying them.

"I really want to wish Hussein all the best to wherever he is going. I think Hussein has been one of the best interviewers that Citizen TV has had , " Odinga said. (5:03-5:18)

Mohamed's years-long stint at Citizen Television came to an end on Tuesday.

His Newsnight program became a mainstay of Kenyan television, racking up high ratings and cementing his name in the pantheon of journalistic greats.

His next assignment is still a closely-guarded secret.
