Addressing the media on Thursday, Kittonyi urged politicians to tone down on their rhetoric regarding the BBI process.

She expressed concern that politicians were using BBI to drive a wedge between Kenyans, something she said was not good for the country going forward.

Kittonyi urged those opposed to the game-changing initiative, to leave it rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric.

"So we are calling on people to tone down their voices and let us embark on what BBI is bringing to the table. If you do not want to participate so be it, you may leave it other than making noises for no apparent reason, " the veteran politician said.

She urged the media to give a blackout to issues that may cause division and chaos in the country.

BBI was launched to the public by President Uhuru Kenyatta over a month ago at the historic Bomas of Kenya, to great pomp and circumstance.

Politicians have been trading strong words over the intentions underpinning the initiative, and how it should be implemented.

Those opposed to the initiative claim it is an attempt by President Kenyatta to cling to power beyond the 2022 general election.
