A section of students at Moi University has requested the school administration to take action against F2 club following rising insecurity cases.

This comes after a final year student at the university was stabbed to death by a fellow student at the club on Saturday.

The students have blamed the popular club for the many insecurity cases that usually occur at night especially robbery.

“If possible the club should be closed down. The wide range of activities happening at the club which go beyond selling the liquor is putting the lives of comrades in danger. This is the place where people with plans to steal or attack their fellows meet. F2 should just be done away with if they can’t regulate the items they sell,” Samson Ongara, a former student leader in charge of security noted.

The club carries out its activities throughout the night up to around 5:00 a.m. The students going back to their places of residence especially those who stay outside the school are therefore exposed to extreme danger.

Cases of physical fights at the club have become a norm.

Earlier on Saturday morning just before the former Mr Moi University Felix Oduor was stabbed to death, the suspect is alleged to have engaged in a physical fight after touching a lady indecently.

“Let’s be realistic, the club cannot be shut down. The best that the university can do is to regulate the hours within which it operates. The club operating till morning hours not only promotes immorality and irresponsibility among the students but also puts the lives of students at risk,” Victor Kimani, a second-year student noted.

Three suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the murder as Moi University students continue to mourn the painful death of Oduor who was remaining with only three weeks to finish his university studies.

The school administration has not yet commented on the matter.
