However, in Nakuru, things have been made worse by a generation of young people that do not want to engage in manual jobs.

Many youths have instead chosen to wasted their time through these ways:

1. Browsing at free WiFi spots

This can partly be 'blamed' on the Nakuru County Government which has availed free WiFi for its citizen in a number of designated spots, including Afraha Stadium.

Consequently, this contributes to laziness among a good number of youths who throng these places to enjoy the free browsing.

They normally use the internet to cruise through social media and watch funny clips online instead of doing online jobs.

2. Visiting betting shops

Nakuru is experiencing an increase in the number of betting shops.

These too have turned into idling spots for the youth, some of whom just hang around to harass their friends and counterparts who have won their bets by asking for loans.

3. 'Eating' stories at the baze

Almost each and every estate in Nakuru has a jobless corner for the youth, popularly known as 'Baze', 'Maskani' or 'Kijiweni'. They spend the day regaling each other with stories in a new fashion called Kukula ('eating') stories

These are places where the jobless go to spend their day. These places also serve as dens for drug abuse.
