Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa now says members of the Kalenjin community should consider forgiving the British for killing their legend, great seer and medicine man Koitalel Arap Samoei.
This is after what the vocal MP said Sir James Arthur Ratcliff, a Briton sponsored the INEOS Challenge that saw a son of the land Eliud Kipchoge become the first athlete to run a marathon under two hours.
Samoei was killed by British Col Richard Meinertzhagen on October 19, 1905, bringing to an end the Nandi Resistance which the seer had led for 6 years, affecting the British colonization.
In a tweet Saturday, the MP suggested that the bitterness should end and forgiveness be practised by the Kalenjin towards the British.
"Because Eliud Kipchoge is proudly sponsored by Radckliff,Briton. I hope that the Kalenjin nation will now forgive the Brirish who killed their lengend koitalel arap Samoei (sic)," he wrote.
Kipchoge became the first man in history to run a marathon race below the 2-hour limit, after he completed the race at 1:59:40, in the unofficial race in Vienna, Austria.
The achievement was received by celebrations across the nation, with local politicians and celebrities sending in their congratulatory messages, with similar coming from international figures.
Deputy President William Ruto was among notable Kenyans who witnessed the making of the history.
