In Kisumu, stakeholders at the Kisumu Boys High School are all smiles, after more than half of the students who sat for KCSE, managed to secure grade C+ and above, which is the minimum qualification for admission into public universities.

According to Lucas, the school's deputy principal in charge of academics, 315 students sat for KCSE at the school this year, with 207 of them getting between grade A plain and C+.

“We have one A constant compared to last year where we had two As. We have 18 A- there’s an increment last year we had 14 A-. Then overally, the total number of students with C+ and above is 207 out of 315,” he said in an interview at the school on Thursday.

He, however, said the school is concerned that over 100 candidates did not manage to get university entry grades, adding that these students should register for courses at the national polytechnics across the country.

“Those who have not qualified to go to university, we have very good courses at the national polytechnics which are very marketable,” he said.

The school was ranked second best in Kisumu County behind Maseno School.
