Sportpesa Premier League (SPL) side Gor Mahia was unable to register a win in their final league match against 2008 champions Mathare United on Sunday.
This was despite the presence of the club patron and opposition leader Raila Odinga's presence for the match in Kisumu's Moi Stadium.
Ranked among the best teams in both the country, and the entire East African region, one would have expected the club to finish with a bang, especially before Odinga.
And though the former Premier enjoyed the pleasure of lifting the trophy at the end of the match courtesy of Gor's good performance until August, some would term it an embarrassment that Gor gave in to the pressure from the visiting side.
It was also very low of Gor to concede twice to allow the visitors regain their footing.
This was despite the team playing in a region it considers its cultural homeland, in the presence of thousands of fans, most of whom ironically double up as Raila's political supporters.
The two teams ended up in a 2-2 draw, with Kogallo's goals coming from Rwandese Jacques Tuyisenge and Humfrey Mieno.
On the other side, Mathare's goals were courtesy of Klinsman Omulanga who saw the back of the net in the 69th minute and Cliff Nyakeya's successful kick from the penalty spot 9 minutes to the final whistle.
This becomes the club's 17th tittle, with the previous one which was skipped by Odinga taking place in the very same venue last year .
