Kehancha OCS Sebastian Ambani was arraigned before Kisumu High Court Judge Justice Fred Ochieng' over the murder of Brian Chacha.

Prosecutor Gloria Baraza told the court that the suspect shot Chacha, 22, who was a student at the KCA University after a brawl earlier in the year, according to the Citizen Digital.

The incident reportedly happened in Mamboleo area within Kisumu City.

Through his lawyer Richard Onsongo, the accused opted to plead guilty in exchange for a lesser sentence.

The request was, however, rejected by the prosecution which maintained that it has enough witnesses to testify in the case.

In his ruling, the judge directed that the full trial of the suspect will resume on November 27.

He added that the hearing will commence with testimonies from two state witnesses who are already under protection courtesy of the witness protection unit.

Ambani who is currently out on a Sh500, 000 bond, and a surety of a similar amount pleaded not guilty to the charges in may this year, before securing the temporary freedom.

The prosecution is now pushing for a quick conclusion of the case, with the prosecutor lamenting of pressure from Chacha's family which is blaming her for the delay.
