Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party chairman for Nairobi county George Aladwa has hinted that the party leader Raila Odinga might take another stab at the presidency in the 2022 general elections.
And while Raila has remained largely silent on his 2022 plans, Aladwa says that the party will play a major role in ensuring that he takes another shot after four futile bids in the future.
He added that as much as it is his personal decision to make, the party, as a brigade in support of his movements, will attempt to convince him to go for another bid.
"Raila yuko na mdomo atasema mambo yake ya 2022. Lakini sisi kama chama tutamwambia asimame (he has his own mouth and will declare his 2022 intentions. But as a party, we will push him to vie)," he said.
The Makadara Member of Parliament made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning, hosted by Eudias Kigai.
The outspoken leader further lashed out at a section of politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto who have been calling upon the former premier to resign.
He said that Raila holds no position from where he should resign, and will not be forced out of the political arena by any individual other than out of his own will.
"Raila hajachaguliwa kiti yoyote ya kustaafu, na hajasema anastaafu. Hiyo ni maamuzi ya mtu mwenyewe ndio anasema (Raila has not been elected in any position to retire. He has not announced any retirement plans. That should be a personal decision)," he added.
