This is according to Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Julius Kamau who made the announcement on Saturday, during an event organised by Kenya Forest Service (KFS) at Karura Forest.

Kamau pointed out that Kaptagat Forest will be ideal for Kipchoge's training due to its favourable altitude.

“Forests provide ideal training grounds for Kenyan athletes and towards this, plans are underway for Eliud Kipchoge to adopt Kaptagat Forest in Uasin Gishu County, as one of his ideal high altitude training locations in the country,” he said as quoted by Citizen Digital.

He called for cooperation between various stakeholders in athletics, in order to promote conservation of forests in the country.

Kamau said conservation of forests will help in achieving the 10% tree cover which is one of the national targets.

The event was attended by Centum Group CEO James Mworia and Isuzu East Africa Managing Director Rita Kavashe among others representatives from various organisations.

Kipchoge went into history books this year when he became the first athlete to finish a full marathon in less than two hours.
