The family of former President Daniel Moi is mourning the demise of his longest serving security man, Leonard Yator (Chomber).
Kesses Member of Parliament Dr Swarup Mishra is among the leaders who have already sent their messages of condolences.
In his message, the lawmaker said that the death of Yator is not only a big blow to the former President but also the entire nation.
He urged Kenyans to pray for the family during this moment of trial.
“Sad to learn about the sudden demise of Mzee Chomber (former President Moi's Aide de camp). Mzee Chomber is our constituent of Kesses Constituency in Chuiyat Village Tulwet/Chuiyat Ward. On my own behalf and on behalf of my great people of Kesses Constituency, I want to officially convey my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and the entire Nation for the fallen of such great icon," reads part of Mishra's Facebook post.
Yator once served President Jomo Kenyatta son’s now the fourth President of this nation, Uhuru Kenyatta.
During that time he was tasked with dropping Uhuru to and from school from Gatundu in the 1960s just after the nation gained independence.
During the tenure of Moi, Yator was a common figure in his security team not only locally but also abroad.
Leaders from different parts of the nation have eulogized him as a man who was committed in his duties.
