The MP said Matiang'i should order police officers to arrest anyone found imposing to be a loan officer but keen to steal from people.

"I don't want my people especially women, youth and disabled to be conned. It is time Matiang'i should give orders to the police to arrest those pretending to be giving loans to locals but, in return, ask for some amount of money before their loans are processed," she said.

Ongera said people should learn to earn income through legal means and stop engaging in dubious dealings.

The ODM MP urged residents to report any conning cases to authorities for arrests to be made.

"Kisii constituents should report any man or woman demanding money before issuing out a loan to police for legal action to be taken. It is time we live in a society free from conmen and women," she added.

She said she is committed to empowering youths, women and disabled through the Affirmative kitty to help them start small businesses to earn a living.
