Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has said that the introduction of the 'Huduma' number initiative should not be taken as a burden to Kenyans.
He said the 'Huduma'' number will help in streamlining the government's operations.
"The Huduma number initiative is aimed at bettering government services to Kenyans. We want to do away with paperwork and save time when Kenyans are seeking government services," said Matiang'i.
According to Matiang'i, the government has not rushed to implement the initiative because the government started planning for the 'Huduma' number program 24 months ago.
"We are not starting this program today. Kenyans need to know the plan for the initiative was started in 2017 through to 2018 and now it is 2019 when we are implementing it," he added.
He said activists who have filed a case in court seeking to stop the initiative are just broke trying to make a living.
"I at times sympathize with the activists who camps in courtrooms challenging the government in any new initiative. Anyway they are broke trying to make ends meet," noted Dr. Matiang'i
