Deputy President William Ruto has been faulted over his opposition and attacks on the Building Bridges Initiative (BB), the BBI taskforce and its expected report.
Ruto and team have been uncomfortable with the President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM boss Raila Odinga's brainchild, terming it a plot to create slots for poll losers in the government.
The DP and his allies have claimed that the task force was deployed with an intention of proposing a referendum, with Ruto appearing opposed to it, despite Uhuru's support.
But Lugari lawmaker Ayub Savula has taken issue with Ruto's reaction, pointing out that he is fighting a nonexistent battle and basing his argument on mere hearsay.
According to Savula, nobody has any information about what the task force will propose, accusing the DP and his camp of yapping about something they don't even know.
"I dont see the need for the Deputy President and his people to yap here and there about something they don't even know (Sioni haja ya Deputy President na watu wake kupiga mdomo hapa na pale kuhusu kitu ambayo hata hawajui)," the MP said on Pata Shika on Radio Citizen, Wednesday night.
He also lashed out at the DP for openly contradicting his boss, President Uhuru, saying that he (Ruto) is opposing an initiative that Uhuru not only supports but also helped form.
Savula added that the mere fact that Ruto might not have been aware of the Uhuru-Raila handshake, which resulted in the BBI, is also not reason enough for him to take a different side.
He said that in the National Super Alliance (NASA) side where Raila hails from, his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka has since endorsed the BBI yet he too was not aware of the handshake prior.
"Ruto is in Uhuru Kenyatta's government, it was not compulsory that he be there. Our deputy Kalonzo was not seen there either but he has embraced it (Ruto yuko kwa serikali ya Uhuru Kenyatta haikuwa lazima awe pale. Deputy wetu Kalonzo hakuonekana pale lakini amekubali)," the MP noted.
After Uhuru's reassurance that he will stick to the BBI late last week, the DP hours later came up to insist that the BBI taskforce report must be scruitizined by Kenyans before being embraced.
