Orange Democratic Movement party senior officials on Thursday visited Lee Funeral Home to pay their last respects to a legislator who died last week.
Ms Anastancia Wakesho, who until her death served as a member of the Taita Taveta County Assembly, had been nominated by the party.
Wakesho, who also served as a top official in ODM women league, died last week, after several months of battling cancer.
Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Women League chair Beth Syengo and Raila Odinga's aide Silas Jakakimba are among those who viewed the body.
"At Lee Funeral home with ODM party Women League Chair Hon Beth Syengo, Taita Taveta Chairperson Richard Tairo, and Silas Jakakimba to pay our respects to our fallen sister, nominated MCA Anastasia Wakesho who succumbed to cancer. May God rest her soul in eternal peace," Sifuna wrote.
Wakesho's death comes at the time when the party is preparing for competitive grassroots polls countrywide which will start in February.
ODM leader Raila Odinga recently launched an online registration drive at Chungwa House.
He said the party is keen to spread to all regions across the country.
