Speaking on Sunday during the African Women Leaders Network retreat held at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, Kobia said women have been facing endless challenges including discrimination as far as leadership of this nation is concerned.

She noted that women need the support of men to thrive in different areas of life.

“I can say in Kenya when young women are going into politics it is very challenging, we are faced with stereotypes, lack of finances but the worst of all is violence and discrimination,” she said as quoted by Capital FM.

Prof Kobia urged men in the field of politics to stand with women for the sake of transforming the nation.

“When a young woman wins a top leadership position it is because of the competency one brings in that position,” she added.

She challenged women to stand and make themselves counted in different areas of life.
