Police in Vihiga are holding a man accused of murdering his brother after a row ensued over food.
45-year-old Patrick Simwa of killing his younger brother by hitting him with a blunt object after they disagreed on when should cook.
The incident reportedly happened at their home in Mang'unyuni village in Sabatia on Tuesday, which left 30-year-old Evans Alumasa.
Izava location chief Alex Ukiru said that the suspect got angry after his younger brother told him to cook the food he (Alumasa) had brought home, resulting in a scuffle.
He said that the suspect retaliated by hitting the deceased on the head after the deceased slapped him, adding that the suspect has been depending on the deceased.
''The suspect was angered when his brother asked him to cook food. He told his younger brother off, saying he was not his wife. Alumasa slapped him prompting the suspect to retaliate by hitting him on the head using a blunt object,'' said the administrator.
He added that both have been living in the same house in a land bought by their father, and are not married and neither do they have children.
''The land where they are living was bought by their father and they stay in the same house. Simwa does not do any work and depends on his younger brother to fend for him,''he added.
The chief stated that the body of the deceased is being preserved at the Vihiga County Referral Hospital morgue in Mbale Town.
