It's perfectly normal to outgrow people in your life. Sometimes it might be because you've realised they're not adding value to your life or you want to focus on yourself.
However, we sometimes find ourselves outgrowing people without even realising it.
So, if you're experiencing these signs in your relationship or friendship, just know you're outgrowing the particular person.
1. You experience awkward conversations
Pulling a natural conversation suddenly becomes an extreme sport. It starts to feel like you're two strangers.
Before this, it was so easy and natural to have a conversation, that you rarely ran out of topics to discuss.
If you experience awkwardness, moments of silence, run out of talking points or generally struggle to have a natural conversation, just know you're outgrowing that person.
2. You stop hanging out together
Before this awkward phase, you used to frequently hit the movies together, go shopping together, play video games, have drinks or just sit in the house and watch Netflix.
Then all of a sudden, that comes to a halt. You no longer do any of these things together.
3. You no longer share news with them
They no longer become the first people you break news to, ask advice or have gossip sessions with.
You act like you're meeting each other for the first time because you don't know what's going on in their lives anymore.
You are simply not interested in telling them what's going on in your life and you are also not curious about knowing what is going on in their lives either.
4. You rarely keep in touch
Before you find yourself in this phase, they were on top of your contact list as the most frequently contacted.
Now you're at a point where you can go for weeks without talking to them, and you're comfortable with that.
5. Your values suddenly don't align
Prior to this, you agreed on almost everything. It's like you were two people in one.
But all of a sudden, differences have started sprouting between the two of you.
You no longer share the same school of thoughts as your opinions are worlds apart.
This is an indication that you're slowly outgrowing them.
