Kinoti said that he is only investigating the scandal at Kenya Pipeline Company.

The second in command had been linked to the controversial purchase of a parcel of land, which he has severally denied. Kinoti is now probing the Sh96 million scandal.

“I'm investigating the massive plunder of KPC. Anybody who stole from KPC, no matter the period, no matter the trick they used to steal, must return the public property or they’ll go to jail,” Mr Kinoti told the Nation on Wednesday.

Ruto had been linked to the illegal acquisition of the parcel of land located off Ngong Forest to the corporation. The detectives from the office of the DCI have already interrogated several persons in connection with the saga.

The DCI has, however, not disclosed the names of the persons grilled since the matter came into the public domain.

Ruto and other two persons were charged with fraudulent acquisition of land in 2004 but they were later acquitted over lack of evidence in the case.

The allies of the DP have claimed that the matter has  been politicised as he seeks to ascend to power come 2022.
