A 23-year-old Kirinyaga waitress has been promoted after returning a customer's bag containing Sh60,000 that she found in the hotel.
According to the waitress, Eva Karendi, she saw the suspicious bag at her workplace and picked it.
“I saw the strange item and was not sure what it was so I called my colleague. We checked inside and we were shocked to find Ksh 60,043,” Karendi said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
She decided not to keep the bag and took it to the hotel manager an act that shocked her colleagues at the Nice Digital City Hotel in Ngurubani Town, Mwea Constituency.
On returning the bag, hotel manager Charles Njiru called some of the customers who were earlier at the facility to inquire about any missing bag.
The owner, Ms Esther Mbaabu from Meru County claimed ownership of the bag.
Mbaabu revealed that she accidentally dropped it but realized later that it was missing after she had left the hotel.
The manager now says; “I have already promoted the girl for her good work."
