Speaking during KTN’s Point Blank show on Wednesday, the senator said that the government needs to issue a statement in regard to the woes of the CS.

Rotich was arrested alongside his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge after they were reportedly involved in corrupt deals.

Orengo asked President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration to confirm whether the arrest and arraignment of the CS are likely to affect the stock market.

“The government should make a statement that Henry Rotich’s arrest/trial will not affect the stock markets," he said.

Orengo also noted that the fight against graft is among the reasons that made opposition chief Raila Odinga and Uhuru agree to work together following the famous March 9, 2018 handshake.

He said that the two leaders need support from Kenyans for them to end the vice once and for all.

“The war on corruption is one of the things that made it possible for Raila and Uhuru to have the handshake,” he added.

The remarks come after Uhuru replaced CS Rotich with Ukur Yatani. State House revealed that the new development came at a time when Uhuru wants to ensure smooth operations in the government.
