Mr Jirongo denied all the charges leveled against him by the prosecution.

The array of charges against him include making a document without authority, volunteering false information to a member of the public service, and the execution of security through false pretenses.

His accusers say he committed the offenses between 1992 to 2015.

The information he is alleged to have given linking the late son of former president Daniel Toroitich's son, Jonathan Moi, is said to have been false.

Jirongo is no stranger to the courts over money related cases.

Last year a court issued a warrant of arrest against him over failure to settle a 25 million debt owed to businessman Brian Yongo and over allegations of issuing bad checks.

"It is time the court stamped its authority. Previously, Mr Jirongo has been summoned to appear before court to give reasons why he had issued bad cheques to the decree holder but he failed to do so," the deputy registrar said.

In 2017, a court found that the former legislator was liable to 100 million shillings to the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU).
