Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has been handed a boost in his bid to complete stalled development projects, after members of the Nakuru County Assembly (MCAs), on Tuesday approved Sh2.7 billion development expenditure.
The cash, which will be drawn from the county’s consolidated funds kitty, is expected to be channeled to different projects initiated by Governor Knyanjui.
Speaker Joel Maina Kairu, said the MCAs debated approved the budget since it was urgent.
He said Ward Reps want to see development projects running and not sideshows, adding that it is now the duty of the governor to complete the rest of the process, to allow completion of the projects.
“The urgency with which we were pushed to have this Bill passed should be translated into action in terms of the project implementation. The executive must implement this budget. We don’t want to hear stories come January. We have done our part as an assembly and the ball now is in Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s court,” he said.
A section of residents and leaders had started raising concern over the stalled projects before the approval of the supplementary budget.
The money is expected to be channeled to; Agriculture, education, and infrastructure among other areas.
