The emails that have been seen by the Nation reveal that the latter worked hand in hand with the disgraced Cambridge Analytica firm to ensure that Uhuru remains in power.

The emails insinuate that Gitau, in collaboration with the firm's representative Sabhitha Raju, coordinated Uhuru's campaigns, including conducting studies on Uhuru's rivals.

Also implicated in the same is Uhuru's private secretary Jomo Gechaga, with the details indicating that they coordinated several meetings to strengthen Uhuru's campaigns.

The two were in constant communications with Analytica operatives, including Antonya Allen, Simon Waddington, Kieran Ward and Richard Balley in the course of the campaigns.

They emails indicate that Gitau singlehandedly steered the campaigns, and ordered Analytica operatives on how to handle the campaigns, most likely propaganda part of it, for best results.

The revelations come only days after British MP Alexandra Philips, a former employee of the American firm, admitted that the firm was deployed to influence the elections.

Shw said that its main role was using smear campaigns against Uhuru's leading rival then, Raila Odinga, who was a real threat.

The firm which was formed in 2013 has since been closed down.
