Gor Mahia stretched their lead at the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) log to eight points after overcoming a stubborn Sony Sugar FC 3-2 on Wednesday 3 April at Moi Stadium-Kisumu.
Having come from a goal down to down Nzoia Sugar FC in their last outing, Gor was to be dented in the 22nd minute when former boy Enock Agwanda put Sony Sugar in the lead but Jacques Tuyisenge restored parity three minutes later.
Even before the dust could settle, the resilient Sony side regained their lead though Joshua Otieno in the 28th minute but Samuel Onyango levelled matters in the 38th for Mahia; both teams heading for a breather with no one seeing the better of the other.
On the second half, in a bid to swing the tie in their favour, coach Hassan Oktay was to make a double change with Tuyisenge and Pascal Ogwno making way for Nicholas Kipkurui and Kenneth Muguna.
