Raila Odinga’s son Raila Junior has gone against his father and opposed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s recommendations to the Finance Bill.
Junior said he was against a move by his father to rally ODM MPs into backing the 8% VAT on petroleum products.
“Unfortunately as a Kenyan citizen, I am unconvinced by the statement put out by NASA on the VAT on Fuel, none of the conditions they’ve put up are measurable and even if they were they are nowhere near closing the deficit on the debt. I call for my MP @okothkenneth to reject,” Junior tweeted.
The tweet was posted moments after his father, Raila Odinga who is the ODMs party leader held a parliamentary group meeting with the party’s MP and whipped them to support the Finance Bill.
Uhuru also held a PG meeting with Jubilee MPs and persuaded them to support the bill when it comes for a vote in parliament.
The Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale said a total of 181 MPs attended the meeting which was presided over by Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto.
