A section of county bosses from Central Kenya has given terms that must be fulfilled before they can support the Building Bridges Initiative report.  According to the governors, they will only back the report if it is going to address the economic interests of the region as well as propose more cash for their condition.

The four are; Martin Wambora (Embu), Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua), Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia) and Kiraitu Murungi (Meru).

While speaking at the Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi on Tuesday, the governors said that they have no problem with BBI as long as it will address the needs of their people in the coming years. They, however, said that they will have no reason to back the same if it doesn’t have goodies for their people.

“As we have said before through the Council of Governors, we will support any initiative that increases allocations to the counties for development. Therefore, we will examine the BBI report and only support it if satisfies the interests of our regions,” Kimemia said, as quoted by Standard.

On his part, Muriithi asked the leaders to remain patient until the report is released before they can start debating on the same. He said that some leaders are already speculating about the contents of the report even before it is released.
