The taskforce met on Tuesday to finish up on its report which will be presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta once he returns from his trip to Japan and Russia.

17 months ago, the task force was given the assignment of coming up with recommendations on how to resolve 9 key issues which include; ethnic antagonism, lack of national ethos, exclusivity, devolution, divisive elections, security, corruption, shared prosperity and responsibility.

The BBI stemmed from the handshake between President Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

According to Joint secretary Paul Mwangi, the recommendations will be summed up in a report and then handed to President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

Mwangi also revealed that the recommendations will change the status quo of affairs in the country.

An article published by Citizen TV listed the following as some of the recommendations in the report; expansion of the executive by creating a prime minister position with two deputies.

Also, 40% increment of devolved share of resources in the national budget, reducing corruption among public officers and appointment of cabinet ministers from the national assembly were said to be among expected recommendations.

Some of the recommendations may lead to a referendum before they are enforced in compliance with the Constitution.
