Obado has since joined hands with former Rongo lawmaker Dalmas Otieno in opposing the recent nomination of Ochilo Ayacko as the party candidate for the Migori senatorial by-election.

Speaking during a fundraiser at the St Paul's ACK Church in Ratta, Seme sub county on Monday, ODM Deputy Party Leader Wycliffe Oparanya said that the party will reach out to the Governor in a bid to persuade him into buying the idea.

“We understand his concerns, but we will approach my friend Obado and convince him to change his stand on opposing the party’s choice,” the Kakamega Governor was quoted by the Nation.

The remarks were fully supported by area Governor and former Orange party Secretary General Anyang' Nyong'o and women representative Rosa Buyu.

Obado has since termed ODM's move to give Ayacko a direct nomination dictatorial and undemocratic.

Mr. Otieno who was also in the race for the ticket has since decamped from the party and will contest the seat on the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) ticket.

The seat fell vacant after the death of former Senator Ben Oluoch Okello.
