Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has appealed to the Kenya Power and Lighting Company to urgently work towards reducing the incessant power outages being experienced in the region.
"I'm appealing to Kenya Power to work jointly with county officers to map areas that are to be connected with electricity across the county," appealed Ongwae.
While speaking on Friday when he attended the just concluded Kenya power expo at Gusii stadium, the Kisii County Governor reiterated his administration's commitment to set aside funds to purchase transformers to help in enhancing electricity connectivity in all areas of the County.
"The new transformers will help supply power to specific areas where we have done a number of boreholes to facilitate water reticulation," said the county boss.
He added that his government is already working with the Rural Electrification Authority (REA) in ensuring all our vocational training centres are connected.
"As a commitment, the county has already offered Kenya Power land to set up a power step-up substation in Kisii to boost supply and curb outages. Power connection and adequate electricity supply will help in achieving vision 2030 and the Big Four Agenda," stated Ongwae.
