Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko and Embakasi East Member of parliament are not your ordinary politicians.
They talk whenever and wherever they feel like it.
Also, they seem focused on bigger goals. What strikes most about them is their go-getter attitudes.
They do not relent on what they have set their minds to achieve and in most cases, they have recorded tremendous success.
A fast and steady rise to the top
The two politicians have a lot in common. I will only discuss a few.
One, they have had a fast and steady rise to the top. For Mike Sonko, he started by becoming the Member of Parliament for Makadara. From there he set his eyes on a higher seat. He vied for and won the Nairobi County senatorial seat.
From there, he went a step further and became the governor of Nairobi. Once he set out on his ambition to become an influential politician, there was no turning back.
The same can be said of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino. After staying in the helm of student politics for far too long, he decided to go for the big boys league. It did not take him too long to secure a seat in parliament.
Flamboyant lifestyle
Another striking similarity between Babu Owino and Mike Sonko is the flamboyant lifestyle. For Babu Owino, it is the cool and well-fitting designer suits that he wears. He does not shy away from making the best out of his wardrobe.
On the other hand, Mike Sonko is well known for his shiny rings and jewellery.
The two also have sleek cars. Mike Sonko has been appearing in public riding a convertible Mercedes Benz.
Bold
No one can deny that Babu Owino and Mike Sonko are two bold politicians. They make bold and unapologetic speeches. Many times have their "loose tongues" got them in trouble.
Mike Sonko has, one time, claimed that in the absence of the Deputy President, he is the second in command. Babu Owino has been on the record calling the President names.
