Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has said that he will repair and maintain national statues in the Nairobi since they have been neglected.
Speaking on Thursday through Facebook after visiting the Nairobi's CBD, Mutua said that he was disgusted by the shameful neglection and disrepair of the national statues.
"I am actually affected by their state because I participated actively in the policy of their construction, with Francis Muthaura when I served as government spokesperson.
I will personally repair and maintain the statues for as long as it takes or those concerned wake up from their slumber," he posted.
According to the Governor, such negligence and disrepair happen when leaders concentrate on propaganda campaigns and political activities.
"They are more concerned with elections three years away than the state of our youths, women and government services," Mutua complained.
Mutua who has shown interest for Kenya's top seat come 2022 emphasized on the need to keep such areas clean and well maintained.
"When you visit developed nations you will find that statues of heroes, public squares and the general environment for members of the public are well maintained," he added.
He pointed out how all private sectors in the developed countries emulate government structures and cleanliness an act which Kenyan private sectors have failed.
