12 Members of Parliament on Monday called for the Deputy President William Ruto to resign for allegedly undermining President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The leaders who were largely drawn from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta accused Ruto of opposing the government's initiatives.
The legislators who were speaking at the parliament buildings pointed out that DP Ruto should meet with the president and discuss the problems facing the Jubilee party instead of being rebellious by opposing the Building Bridges Initiative.
Reports from Nation indicate that the lawmakers believed Ruto's sentiments on BBI rallies were directed at President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The MPs described Ruto as a 'divisive and negative' person.
“We want to remind Kenyans that DP Ruto is a known divisive and negative person with a very dark past. He is the only Deputy President in the history of our republic who has been indicted for stealing a poor person’s land,” Suna East Member of parliament stated on behalf of the legislators.
They further dismissed remarks by DP Ruto that the rallies meant to popularize the BBI report were wasting public resources.
The Deputy President had earlier on questioned the BBI rallies citing that no one had opposed the BBI report and therefore staging rallies in the name of popularizing the report was a wastage of public resources.
