The DP has since declared his bid, and is currently considered among the frontrunners in the much-awaited race to succeed the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, speaking on JKL Show on Wednesday night, the law professor said that the ambition might not realize, an observation he based on his own view of the latest happenings.

Similarly, he relegated the DP from the list of frontrunners and possible winners, saying that his impatience and activeness points at a worried man who is unassured of a win.

"I do not think he (Ruto) will become president," he said, noting that the DP is not in any way the undisputed 2022 frontrunner.

"Undisputed by who? I’m here to dispute him. If you know that you are going to win, you do not press your advantage, you sit back and relax," he added.

He added that there is need for politicians eyeing the top seat to be calm and avoid appearing being too forceful, in reference to the DP's actions.

Mutua stressed on the need for humility in the race for the statehouse, alongside some sense of proportion.

"In this country, people who want to become president should not be too eager to become president, they should show some humility and a sense of proportion in the way they go after the position," observed the former Chief Justice aspirant.

The DP has been going across the nation almost on a weekly basis, which his critics have termed one of his premature campaign modes.

He has also been accused of turning a section of Mt Kenya leaders against President Uhuru Kenyatta who is the region's kingpin which has also seen him land under criticism.
