Traders operating at Daraja Mbili market in Kisii town, Kisii County have praised Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i over the ongoing crackdown on PSVs.
Led by John Omwansa, the traders said Matiang'i is doing a commendable job in this country.
"Matiang'i should not be afraid of cheap threats by PSVs owners who have boycotted work. The ongoing crackdown is good and should continue until sanity is realized in the transport sector," said Omwansa.
Moses Ondimu noted that road accidents there will be no road accidents across the country if the crackdown continues.
"People will be travelling upcountry to celebrate Christmas with their families deep in villages. Matiang'i should not succumb to cheap threats. All PSVs must adhere to road rules to curb road carnages," said Mr. Ondimu.
Evans Osoro warned section leaders opposed to Matiang' i's tough stand on PSVs against politicizing Matiang'i's good work.
"We must have law-abiding people on our roads. Old people driving vehicles carelessly should keep off the roads. Politicians should be at the forefront backing Matiang'i's tough orders on PSVs," he noted.
