Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko and Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria will on Sunday take their 'Team 'Wanjiku' campaigns to opposition leader Raila Odinga's home turf.
Sonko and Kuria alongside other politicians advocating for development will stage campaigns at Kondele stage in Kisumu County on Sunday.
The leaders formed 'Team Wanjiku' Movement to champion and address the concerns by common Mwananchi across the country.
The Wanjiku Movement has so far held public rallies in six counties across the country as it drums up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four development agenda.
Last week, the Movement held a rally in Jomvu, Mombasa County, where its leaders called on residents to demand services from their elected leaders.
According to Kuria, Team Wanjiku is not part of the 'Kieleweke' or 'Tanga Tanga' factions of the ruling Jubilee Party because the two groups focus is on 2022 politics.
“We are not 'Tanga Tanga' or 'Kieleweke' factions but we are Team Wanjiku because we are only championing for the interests of common Kenyans," Kuria said during the Movement's rally in Athi-River, Machakos County two weeks ago.
The MP asked politicians to avoid 2022 campaigns and push for development that will benefit the mwananchi.
On his part, Governor Sonko said that Team Wanjiku focus is on the interests of the vulnerable groups across the country.
"I am part of Team Wanjiku as the good deeds ambassador and I will continue to support the less fortunate members of the society,” Sonko said in Athi-River two weeks ago.
The emergence of Team Wanjiku Movement, Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke comes as the 2022 succession debate takes centre stage.
